someone else, we give you
pen caps remixed – featuring album tracks remixed by
losoul,
barem and
easy changes, plus two digital bonus remixes courtesy of un
foundsound champions
david last and
omar salgado.
on a1 – “play it kershaw (
barem’s hooyee mix)” – the argentinean cutey-pie of
foundsound and m-nus fame reworks the funky, stripped-down minimal tune into a crafty, groovy, nearly ponymal (but not quite), kraftwerky electro ditty with detroity darkness and latiny uplifting-nessssss. on a2 – “play it kershaw (
easy changes’ mozgity remix)” – the two russian whiz kids reconstruct the tune into a bouncy, storytelling dancefloor-burner driven by an alluringly rolling bassline and wily psychedelic sound-play. on b1 – “pooty call (got it bad?
losoul remix)” – germany’s legendary veteran of playhouse fame masterfully revamps the deep and emotive number into a quirky, swingy, nine-minute long-play with a touch of matthew herbert-esque dexterity, brilliant sound manipulation, and that sort of off-kilter, left-of- center, soulfully dark, yet candidly droll, housey behavior he is so well-known for. the first digital bonus track – “funky fromage (
david last’s cheezwiz)” – ticks and tacks and snips and snaps its clever-ass way into a funky-ass minimal good time of rump-shakin’ rhythms, an irresistible dub undertone, witty sound-play and frolicsome arrangements. the second digital bonus track – “pooty call (
omar salgado’s cuvée remix)” – is an afterhours gem with the argentinean up-and-comer pulling the track down into an even deeper and darker terrain, gently submerging your head in minimal clicky rhythms and psychotropic effects, meanwhile remaining pleasingly true to the original version.
yes, good times.
