Default best way to listen on mac?

ok...too much confusion on here regarding on how to properly listen on a mac...and more and more people are getting macs, particularly people who make music who would be inclined to listen to cyberjamz...and by macs i mean modern macs, running OSX...i have a few people who want to listen to my show who only have macs at home (3/4 of the music industry or more has macs)...so what is the best way to listen to any cyberjamz show on a modern mac? not just the shoutcast shows (i saw the threads on that) but all shows, most of which stream on windows media...

i saw the thread below on windows media for OSX...would that be the best way to listen?

Absolutely. There are quicktime/wma converters-plugins but they will not parse the .asx playlists generated by the WindowsMedia server. Only use the WindowsMedia player for Mac to listen to cyberJAMZ broadcasts. The shoutcast server has been disabled to the general public and all those transmission are now being re-routed though the WindowsMedia server.

Once you have installed the WindowsMedia player for Mac, this URL is all that is needed to tune in:

http://cyberjamz.com/live.asx

Hey Chris.. Saw your post on dhp and we do indeed support encoding through MAC's, always have but now the system is a little different. Most use nicecast and the broadcaster panel to control the transmission through the WindowsMedia server. I am trying to improve the system so it becomes more automatic but what I have in place now works pretty good.

We were attempting to phase out shoutcast because it is just not built to be a multi-user server. In actuality, if we went all shoutcast someone would have to monitor it 24/7 and that would be nearly impossible. Also, the plugin for the windows version of (Shoutcast DSP) is very buggy and harder to set up and operate.

Believe me, I've tried everything I could to get this open to the public yet be secure in a multi-user environment and what I have now is the best possible solution. If you've heard of another system that works the same on both MAC's and Windows and is designed for multi-user access and secure, I'm willing to give it a try.

The shoutcast-dsp/nicecast tranmissions are routed to a pc that encodes and redirects back up to the main windows media server. The archiving needs to be triggered once the shoutcast transmission begins and needs to be stopped manually when the show is over. It does post the file in the main archive section as a windows .asf

I have created a panel page for the broadcasters to handle this operation but it still needs a little work and has some bugs.

Another shortcoming of the shoutcast system is that it operates out of port 8000. Our main audience comes from work computers connected behind a firewall and cannot usually connect to port 8000. I can probably set it to work out of http port 80 but that would be a configuration nightmare to those trying to encode to that server. It's hard enough to set up with default settings and changing the port will further confuse the broadcasters.
