Soul Oasis pres DJ Aakmael - Deepermoments EP [Cyberjamz]

If you’re familiar with the phrase that starts “When in Rome…” you’ll understand that label owner Sammy Rock tends to tackle his reviews with a glass or two of vino. How appropriate then that I’ve just cracked open one of my favourite reds as I pen a few words to describe Cyberjamz eight release. Featuring three tracks, this is another beautifully crafted EP of mellow grooves for those who understand that house music isn’t all about filling the floor in the main room of a super club. “Deeper Moments“ is built on a platform of chords that almost clash but don’t with nagging beats that‘ll have you tapping your toes before you know it. “Equinox” has some breathtaking keys which are blended with haunting strings. “Breathe Deep” is another smooth jam with a soulful vocal and melodic but understated keys. It’s my favourite of the three tracks, all of which float my boat

Soul Oasis pres Beppe Gioia - Untitled Fantasy [Cyberjamz]

Following hot on the heels of his excellent release on Sofitone, Beppe Gioia is back this time with a this track for Sammy Rock’s Cyberjamz label. It’s beautifully constructed with no single element of the production dominating. Kicking off with the “Main Fantasy Mix”: the beats and bass will get those feet moving while the lush string arrangement, flutes and keys provide some relief from life’s daily stresses. There are some vocals in there too but you’ll need to listen carefully to catch them. The “Fantasy Deep Dub” is a deep atmospheric take, dampening down the keys and using them more sparingly but adding some female vocals including what sounds like a railway station announcement towards the end. Lastly, the “Lounge Mix” takes you by surprise as the dusty beats are accompanied by a smooth and atmospheric ride with the strings and keys for company.

Soul Oasis pres Cloud 9 - The Awakening EP [Cyberjamz]

If I’ve learned one thing recently when it comes to Cyberjamz releases, it’s simply to expect the unexpected. There’s a lot of people out there who complain about house music being tired and boring, or not pushing the envelope. This label defies conventions and brings something different, experimental, retro or new to the table with every release. “Awakening The World” combines throbbing basslines with 80s style synths to create a funky ass jam that’s enjoyable on all fronts. “Ajanya Grooves Me” is a dark, almost techy affair with striking synths and tough electronic bass. “Banging On Clouds Beat” continues the dark moody theme while “Mafumbae Dance” combines compelling rhythms and melodic organs. My pick of the tracks is “Awakening The World” which I just can’t get out of my head.

We haven't heard from Paul G (Paul Garavellos, a Toronto native who moved to New Jersey a while ago) for quite some time, but now he returns with the "Apt #3A EP" which features four great deep house tracks. The title track is built around a smooth tribalish backing groove featuring wicked keys and chords that create a mesmerizing feel. "Sambalism (part 2)" is a wonderful laidback jazz house track featuring a fantastic piano alongside phat keys, while "Motion sickness" gets deeper with its moody chords and spheric synths.

DJN Project - Wheels of Love [Cyberjamz]

I’ve always felt that r’n’b and house work well together and this pretty much demonstrates the point. The production is deep and smooth and the r’n’b style vocals from Rick Galactic are delivered impeccably and with feeling. I prefer the “Nef Nunez Mix” to the “Original” as it’s slightly less busy, although the general vibe doesn’t change that much. For those who like their music without vocals the “Nef Nunez Instrumental” is a soothing alternative.

Soul Oasis pres Paul G - Apt #3A EP [Cyberjamz]

The EP contains four tracks on the lighter side of deep. My favourites are the title track with its percussion that sounds like a steam train chugging along and “Sambalism Part 2” with its breezy chords and jazzy beats. “Motion Sickness” is a bit punchier with driving rhythms and old school organs. Lastly, “The Spaniard” treads a deep techy path courtsey of some haunting synths and Spanish guitar.

Salvatore Agrosi - Elsewhere EP [Cyberjamz]

Cyberjamz bring you two more deep tracks that keep you on your toes from the opening beats right through until the end. “The Fate” gets underway with crisp enticing beats that provide the backdrop to the lovely chords which arrive shortly after. There’s an analogue bassline which provides a bit of punch but despite this track the track still has a mellow kind of vibe. “Type The Word” is also on balance fairly mellow but sharpens things up with some more striking keys and female vocal snippets while the softer chords make you feel warm all over.

Nice Review on Fast Vision Soul..

Soul Oasis pres Fast Vision Soul - “House Freestyle” [Cyberjamz]

There are two tracks on this release which are both deep laid back offerings and what I would describe as mood building music. It might seem clichéd when I write about labels pushing the envelope, but Cyberjamz does just that with just about every release. You’re not going to find music to a formula that’s set to rock the floor in the cheesy disco uptown or downtown. The music is lovingly crafted for people who understand house and who recognise quality when they hear it. In terms of the tracks themselves, “Me vs. The Music” and “Y O Ba Bu” are seriously deep synth driven numbers with the latter possessing a floor shaker of a bassline.

DJ Aakmael - Darker Moments EP [Cyberjamz]

Following on from the excellent “Deeper Moments EP”, DJ Aamael delivers another four highly desirable tracks to tickle your musical taste buds. “13th Mood” is a deep number with melodic keys and a rumbling bassline that will, at the very least get your toes tapping. “I Dunno” has a combination of percussion and sub bass that will get your ass wiggling, even if you’re sitting down while the tender keys and strings will lift even the darkest of moods. “Afrosohl” is provided in “Aakmixx” and “Aakdubb” with and without vocal. It features amongst other things chord exchanges which remind me of early 90s MAW, albeit much mellower. Very tasty indeed!!

The standout cut on this EP by Italian producer Andrea "Tamashi" Garibaldi is by far the jazz-tinged, ultra slick, guitar-laden "Deep In You", which will surely fire up a hungry crowd. The talented guitar soloist who sprinkles this tasty dish, is Mauro Rosati. Smokin joint! For those itching for a tougher sound, you can also serve up "Zodiac" and "Chicago's Warehouse".

The vocals are difficult if not impossible to ignore and the seriously deep production is edgy yet melodic. For casual listening the most accessible mix comes from Tim McCallister who delivers a smooth version which I find most refreshing. The “Jakdat Dub” has been built with the dance-floor firmly in mind with driving percussion and a more energetic feel throughout. Sensei delivers a haunting version with a deeper synth arrangement for a more eclectic vibe.

Cyberjamz Records sent us this promo that comes with 2 vocal mixes and a dub.
The Sensei Style Mix and Jakdat dub have a real 90's feel to them, with some serious drum programming. I really like the dub, it's got a lovely hook of a keyboard that is reminiscent of Korg M1 on a diet!
But for me, the mix of this package is without a doubt the Tim McCallister mix. This starts off slightly leftfield, with tablas and madly sequenced hats, but builds up with a normal off beat open
hat before the hugely melodical voice of Wincie kicks in drawing the rest of the track out with her.
It's a lovely piece of music, with a chorus a reformed drug addict would roll up and smoke!
Great release, with the Tim McAllister mix leading the way!

Soul Oasis presents DJ Buzzard - From The Lair Vol 1 [Cyberjamz]

This latest release from Cyberjamz is an EP from DJ Buzzard that contains three distinct grooves that should all get a positive reaction from the floor. “Samba Caca” is full of Brazilian rhythms and chants but is otherwise quite sparse in style. “Smoking Hot Buzz” drops some mellow rhodes chords from an old Harley & Muscle production and adds tribal beats that make it really tough to stand still. Last up is “Hot Weld” which is the funkiest of the three with a deep jackin’ West Coast vibe. Nice!!!

Soul Oasis ft Weysa Dya - Connected Minds [Cyberjamz]

This is a superb deep house offering with a spoken word vocal from Weysa Dya. From a personal perspective it hit’s the spot rather nicely with both the production and vocals proving highly effective. The basic groove is uncomplicated but some of the synths and effects add a hint of the eclectic. Anyone who looks out for Sole Channel’s releases would be well advised to check this one out and of course fans of the Cyberjamz label will need little convincing.

Rocked all the joints on my show..I will put up the podcast ASAP..

The Groove Victim is back with a new EP for 2009 on CyberJamz Records. Chronicling his experiences while living in California, this Four Track Stomper Consists of three Big Room Tracks and one After Hours track with a moody swing reminiscent of the early 90s Jersey Sound.

We start of with “238 To 880”, a beat driven stomper with syncopated chords and ambient keys throughout.

“Club Drama”, this track is big room material, simple yet effective. "Club Drama" will have the dance floor packed with its moody chords and deep bassline.

“That Night on 17”, if you’ve ever driven Highway 17 in the Bay Area, then you’ll understand the title. The road is insane, and this track is insane as well. “That night on 17” is a definite head banger on a big system.

“South Bay” takes us back to the roots of the Jersey House Sound of old. Heavy kicks, and syncopated rhythm. In addition to an eerie bassline, dark chords and strings, Groove adds a simple keyboard solo as the icing on the cake.

We hope this will be a wonderful addition to The CyberJamz label and your music Collection, whether you’re DJ, Dance, Listener or Producer.

Jay Brown aka Groove Victim drops one of the dopest EP’s of the year to date. I’ve often described his work as “house music for grown ups” and these four tracks give me every reason to stick by that judgement. All four are high quality deep house that deliver in terms of rhythm, atmosphere and depth. I could just as easily crank up the volume and go nuts to this at home as I could in a club and whilst the “dance around your handbag brigade” might not get it, anyone who knows their house will certainly will. Ignore this one at your peril!

About a year or so ago, my friend Kevin Starke of KStarke Records shop told me about K.Joy, this underground singer from House Music's early years. Quite a few of her tracks were made famous as "Ron Hardy originals" - original, unreleased tracks that Chicago's then-unknown producers were giving to Ron Hardy at the Music Box on reel-to-reel or even cassette tape. Some were re-recorded by other vocalists for commercial release, but her name - at least among the old school - was pretty well-known.
By now, K.Joy's been back on the scene for awhile and released a number of tracks for Cyberjamz Radio's Cyberjamz imprint (and a blast from the past was released in the package of remixes for her track "Like This" (http://www.traxsource.com/index.php?act=show&fc=tpage&cr=titles&cv=21000) released on Cyberjamz a year ago, which features Chip E's original 1985 mix). This is her new track, "Lover's Dance". This is a bit of a poetic release as she teams up with the In Blueblackness production team (aka Darren Brandon/DJ Quad, Joe Glover and Pierre Raymond), who are themselves responsible for some killer tracks and remixes over the years.

The beats are harder, the sound is refined, and Groove is on a mission to make his impression on dance floors throughout the world. ”Jersey Bound”, we all know Groove’s origins, and this time around he’s back and he’s taking us along with him to his home of sanctuary with this new EP, “Foul Tracks vol. 2”.

We kick this EP off with a 4 to the Floor stomper called “Shore Points”, a track filled with potential energy which builds upon a hard kick, classic chord stabs, and slow building strings which set the mood.

“GSP Groove”, gritty, heated, mesmerizing, in other words, this is Groove’s state of mind.

“Centauri Minor” (That Broad St. Joint Mix) is actually a remix of an unreleased track Groove produced, but with a hard and meatier twist. In dedication to Newark, New Jersey’s world renowned Club Zanzibar, this track displays the essence of what put Jersey on the map and gracefully upholds the true definition of “The Jersey House Sound”.

We finish off this EP with “That Kid from Neal Place”. This is the track where you finally hear some of Groove’s other influences besides Kerri Chandler and Jovonn. CyberJamz Records present a re-release of the magnificent "A star is being born EP" by T. Solomon originally put out by 50/50 Records in limited quantities back in 2004 (you might remember this label from 1992/1993 classics such as "A day in may" by Lenny Fontana or "I got U" by Tony Moss). T. Solomon impresses with heartfelt vocals, with the title track being wonderful soulful r&b jam, followed by the mid tempo jazz-funk groover "Don't give up". "Ride the bass" is a jazz-funk oozing up-tempo affair, while "What" is a fierce underground styled track. But the real delight here is the unreleased version of "Shame on you" featuring the legendary Taana Gardner alongside T. Solomon on vocals.

Already doing the rounds on promo but not due for full release until the end of May, this latest release from Cyberjamz has just about everything you could hope for if you like your house with depth, soul and subtlety. “When The Beat Drops” has plenty of mixes to choose from which ensures that there’s something to suit almost any time in the night and to cater for the most discerning audience. Running through the options, “DJ Sound Science’s Deep Mix” is simply captivating with soothing vibes, soul drenched keys combined with chugging rhythms and analog bass to create the perfect vehicle for the spoken word vocals. The lyrics are intelligently crafted and describe the euphoric effect of the DJ on the vocalist and the rest of the crowd.

The “Tayo Wink Werk Mix” is more energetic with a slightly darker vibe that’s created by impactful synths and a killer bassline.

“Eddie Ed’s Tech Dub” is a cross between the modern day deep tech and original Detroit sounds and is most certainly one for the main room. The final mix in the package is the
