“Trouble In Paradise” is a pure testament to the roots of R&B flavored vocal house. The sweet simplicity of the standard boom & clap intro is well paced and leads into the funky bassline, while the enchanting chords set the stage for the outstanding vocal performance of Sean Williams. His R&B flavored, distinctive phrasing is mildly reminiscent of John Legend; however, Sean’s earthy quality shines through. The passionate & insistent lyrical melody never fails, climaxing into panoramic bridges while the memorable “bah-de-dah’s” intermittently dot the production. Its texture is a reminder of sophisticated NYC funk a la early 80’s Prelude/West End/Sam Records with a modern House feel. This dark, deep, underneath the underground “TJ Inc Vocal Mix” does not compromise the R&B essence of the Danism Vox. TJ Inc, (Jacko aka Giacomo Berarducci, Tony Loreto and keyboardist, Antonio DiMauro) are the hottest new production team coming out of Italy. They have that funky electro soul sound down to a science and their mix is a perfect example of that. The catchy, instantaneous bassline and strings give this mix drama. A brewing, emotive organ solo, never brazen or pretentious, whispers seductively against the rhythm track. This is a HOT one, right in line with the current electro soulful house tunes!

Rounding off “Trouble In Paradise” with “The Conan TIG Dub” this version creatively injects a repetitive reconfiguration of the title chorus. The “big room” wheezing keyboards likened to those sounds relegated to hard or progressive house and the busy percussive elements all converge on top of the heavy bassline. A host of other keyboard sounds surface in each section of this dub, as everything drops and the wheeze of the “anthem-ish” key stabs return bold as ever. For those DJ’s less inclined to play the vocal mixes and prefer their house hard/techy/&electro…Well, hit play on the CD deck because this dub is for you!
