Kai Alce and Ramon RawSoul @ Peacock - Sept 14 Fri

JHI and FastFWD bring you a night of Deep Soulful House with Kai Alce and Ramon RawSoul

Kai Alce (ATL MJQ, TrackMode)
Born in NYC, Kai moved to Detroit in 1980. Kai began listening to 'Electrifying Mojo', as well as The Wizard AKA Jeff Mills. When the 'Music Institute' opened in Detroit in 1987, it quickly became the city's premier underground dance music location. Kai began working there at the age of 16 and subsequently witnessed the evolution of house alongside its most formidable DJ's: Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, D. Wynn, Alton Miller, and kin Chez Damier. Among the benefits of working at the club was Kai's easy access to the studios as they created such hits as Innercity's 'Goodlife' and Rhythim is Rhythim's 'It is what it is'. "Surround by such mastery one can't help but be inspired." After completing high school, Kai moved to Atlanta to attend Morehouse College .There he set out to cultivate the house scene. He began spinning at Club Velvet while still attending college, and it was simply a matter of time before he had set the vibe at Atlanta's Traxx, Kaya, 688 Madhouse, Oxygen, Nomenclature, Ying Yang music café which paved the way for people such as India Arie, Donnie. He became the main resident at DEEP: Saturday nights at world famous MJQ concourse which ran for over sixth years, hosting the like of Phil Asher, Tedd Patterson, Jovonn & King Britt to name a few. It was at the latter that he decided to solidify a direct link between the South and D-town roots by creating "Deep Detroit House Sessions." So far Alce has hosted the likes of Chez Damier, Alton Miller, Brett Dancer, Moodymann, Mike Huckaby and Theo Parrish. The success of these parties is acknowledged not only by the crowd, but also by the DJ's themselves, who often ask to come again soon.

Kai Alce has recorded for Track Mode Records (w/ Ron Trent), as well as for Moodymann's Mahogani Music label, and now Real Soon.

Ramon RawSoul (ATL, Chicago)
Ramon Rawsoul was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. He was reared with house music in the neighborhood. When he was coming up, house music came to widespread attention as records were imported directly from Chicago to dominate the play list of Europe 's most influential DJ's. He was there at the house party. He watched it grow with virtually no support from radio networks. Three house records forced their way into the top ten and Ramon Rawsoul was open.
He studied the "Father" of house music Ron Hardy, who had already affected a continuous music mix -- with reel-to-reel machines plus a dual-turntable setup -- at Chicago's Muzic Box. Rawsoul eventually relocated to Atlanta , Georgia and continues his passion of being a DJ.
Aside from making you move, lose control, and forget your problems, his vision is to create cohesiveness amongst the local Atlanta DJ's, where they can play and promote parties together, and forget about petty competition and egos. He wants Atlanta 's entire Underground scene to get the recognition and support it deserves. His parties have been known to keep people on their feet till eight in the morning. Reared and raised by Chicago's roots, his influential mixing style, passion for real music and love for people are bound to keep you wanting more deep "RAW" soul.

Riverside (FastFWD, JHI)
Born in Washington D.C., Riverside 's early influences were Rare Groove, Fusion, as well as Deep House from New York , Chicago , and Detroit. In the mid-90's, this eager newcomer would make weekly visits to New York City's Soho, and Mid-town, to listen to Qool DJ Marv, who was a household name in the Village. After listening to his style of music selection, mixing, and amazing ability to move the crowd, Riverside decided it was time to tap into his soul and do what came naturally, DJ. Listening and playing different styles of music from all around the world, Riverside began to lean towards the broken beat sounds from West London.
In 1999, he heard Neon Phusion "Future Aint, the Same as it used 2Be", and it would prove to be the turning point in his young career. When asked, Riverside attributes his unique style of mixing to DJ's like Orin Walters (Afronaught), Seiji, Philly's own Argo, from Broken Beat Radio. "These guys inspired me to mix, and helped me develop my style of rhythm and soulful sounds," says Riverside .
In 2004 after relocating to Orlando, Florida, Riverside co-founded the DJ collective FastFWD with Myrna and Mr. Marley. This crew threw gigs bringing top DJs and artists from the Broken Beat and Deep House culture. Over the next several years, he played at a number of establishments around his new home as well as various places along the East coast. He has opened up for acts such as Jeremy Ellis, John Arnold, and mixed along side the likes of, JustOne, Kai Alce, QBurns Abstract Message, and Julius "The Mad Thinker."
In the winter of 2007, Riverside transformed FastFWD into an official record label with the help of Sandman and Chairman Hao. This newly developed label concentrates on original, deep, broken, Afro-Latin influenced rhythms, as well as deep soulful house. Riverside has recently been busy in the studio producing tunes and remix projects for the new label.
In the summer of 2007, he was inducted into JHI, a deep house collective run and founded by Jay Oliva.
