The shoutcast-dsp/nicecast tranmissions are routed to a pc that encodes and redirects back up to the main windows media server. The archiving needs to be triggered once the shoutcast transmission begins and needs to be stopped manually when the show is over. It does post the file in the main archive section as a windows .asf
I have created a panel page for the broadcasters to handle this operation but it still needs a little work and has some bugs.
Another shortcoming of the shoutcast system is that it operates out of port 8000. Our main audience comes from work computers connected behind a firewall and cannot usually connect to port 8000. I can probably set it to work out of http port 80 but that would be a configuration nightmare to those trying to encode to that server. It's hard enough to set up with default settings and changing the port will further confuse the broadcasters.
