About Carlos Sanchez Movement

Carlos Sanchez is a Brooklyn native whose early studies in music began in church at the age of six leading him to The High School of Music & Art, where he studied voice and music theory. Carlos also joined the All-City High School Chorus were he sang lead tenor for 4 years, ending his chorus experience with a solo during a concert at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. He also toured with a popular gospel group while still in his teens. Those formative years of solid musical training, has help to build a successful career as a respected DJ/Producer/Songwriter/Vocalist and college professor among many other things.

From his first clubbing experiences in the early seventies until now, Carlos has found inspiration in the classics like Stevie Wonder as well as eclectic jazz sounds, the likes of Lonnie Liston Smith, Gil Scott Heron, George Duke, Herbie Hancock and Donald Byrd. “My first DJ influences came from the Brooklyn mobile DJs (like Grand Master Flowers or DJ Maboya), and other club spinners including Tee Scott, Larry Patterson, Nicky Siano & Walter Gibbons.

Energy he has interpreted into his own diverse musical style that has earned him noteworthy residencies from his debut at Leviticus, NYC to his current popular monthly parties at the legendary Starlite Lounge and Langston in Brooklyn. A respected retail veteran whose ear is equally legendary, Carlos is a versatile crowd-pleaser who is known for being capable of spinning in many different rooms and for any age group.

When not spinning in the club, you can catch Carlos in the studio where his keyboard and vocal arrangement skills are often employed by top artists, producers and on his own behalf, the Carlos Sanchez Movement, of which he wrote and produced “Love and Respect”, “Flyer High” and “Spirit of the Dance”, a breezy and inspirational listen to a well-constructed dance vocal, destined to become another genre classic. Other future projects include another classic song entitled “One Sensational Flow” feat. the incomparable songwriter/producer/vocalist Gordon Chambers. You’ll also find Carlos collaborating with other producers this year such as Quentin Harris and Sting International and Cameron da DJ. Look for some of his grown and sexy remixes of some of your favorite soul singers this year as well.

Carlos is definitely a music veteran with over 35 years of experience in music and as a DJ. Nevertheless, he has been able to maintain a his unique style as well as a level of professionalism that has stood the test time.
