Track Pick: MASSIMO VANONI - WICKED FUNK E.P - Masterworks Music This is a really groovy and cool package to own featuring some ol skool disco influenced pieces ,it's just right for those that still enjoy the 70's & 80's but with a new school twist.Massimo Vanoni represented proper on this release. If new disco is your thang,then this package if for you. Massimo Vernoni started off his DJ career with a residency at the disco 'Asola in 1985 and went on to play there until 1993 these were the years where he really shaped his talents and grew as an artist influenced by funk , Afro , Electronic and House. In 1993 he became the resident DJ at 'Tam Tam' San Giovanni in Croce on a Sunday afternoon where he would play Downtempo and Electronic and on Saturday nights he would play Funk & Disco. 1993 - 2001 he became a freelance dance producer having releases on labels such as 'DJ Movement', 'Reflex Records' and 'Wicked Rhythm' to name but a few. But for Masterworks Music the stand out year for Massimo was 2015 where he would burst on to the Disco / Nu Disco scene with his 'Deeper' e.p on the mighty 'Midnight Riot Records', and he's also caught the eye of Hot Digits Music boss 'Fingerman' so 2016 looks to be another busy year for the Italian. Not forgetting all of Massimo's tracks are originals and were proud to announce his 'Wicked Funk' e.p which will be available to download exclusively on Juno Download from Monday 29th February. |

As a teenager he meet the music as a breakdancer with the love for popping. The music that made him move was early 80z electro, P-funk and various boogie tunes. Through the clubs and dancefloors, It was natural for Lux to find his way into both the Dj booth and the producer chair. As a DJ and record collector his main focus was funk, breaks, disco, boogie and P-funk. Production wise the direction took a rather surprising turn as he started to produce his new won love in music, 90s house music.After running a label, releasing numerous tracks, remixes, some critically acclaimed gems, by change, he learned that a whole new genre of music, edits, has developed right under his nose. The combination couldn't be more natural for Lux, as he now could combine his production skills with his musical knowledge and record collection to produce edits. His first edit release came on the well known label Giant Cuts. His first EP, "Skate EP," made it into top ten on both Juno and Traxsource. After releasing two more EP's on the same label, Lux was granted a spot in the Traxsource top 100 edit producers for 2015. This massive compilation features a collection of few artist and producers that been wreaking havoc in our industry.Most of the tracks featured are favorites that have been offered before but this time they are remixed and re-introduced. All the pieces are dope ! First up is Marcel Vogel with a lovely remix of "Human Being" (NY*AK Remix feat Mark Hand) ,a delightful downtempo soulful joint that will take your dancers to another level. Next on this package is the Chicago / Detroit flavored joint "Always Isn't Only" (Soulphiction remix) which is in a class by itself.A wonderful vocal track that is slick,sensual and soulful to say the least. The following cut is where is at and one I'm sure both deejays and dancers might dig entitled " Moonchild" (Soul Clap Remix) which is a very good musical ride with a taste of Chicago .There is also a Simba Remix of "Moonchild" that is also out of this world and one of my favorite off this already hot E.P..This remix is truly a banger for me as it sit at 120bmp or so,making it very sexy and moody,just the way true music lovers enjoy their music.Oh did I mention it's a vocal track? Grooving (Mixes by Gene King , Achille Lombardi ,Max Ferrante Remix ,Soulistk & Ru.DiJ - X) Ok let us begin examining this fantastic package.Up first on deck is the Original & the Gene King Mix. These 2 are quickly favorites for me off this release as he kept things soulful but just when you thought you heard the best off this.. here comes the dope Soulistk Mix which is simply hot.Plenty of percussion and afro beats to make those dancers......... dance ! Meanwhile the Ru.DiJ - X - Perimental Mix) is also dope with lush keys and vibes with a touch of electronic elements,this one is pretty dope as well as the Max Ferrante Remix of which packs a heavy bass-ling for those of us like me that enjoy heavy beats and keyboard work. Stepping out the box is the Achille Lombardi Deep Tech Remix which is what you wanna play when ya in the zone during those peak-hour sets.
